Kruger National Park - Destination Information - Kruger Surrounds

Kruger Surrounds

Although the Kruger National Park is the main draw-card to the Lowveld region of South Africa, and is itself bordered by some exceptional Private Game Reserves, there are also a number of other attractions from breath-taking scenery - much of which is to be seen on the Panorama route - to historic mine workings, and a host of adventure activities, all of which can be experienced in conjunction with the wildlife in the Reserves. Allied to this are a number of small, charming towns, with an excellent selection of accommodation establishments to choose from.

We have therefore selected (and will continue to add) a number of properties, including reserve areas, in and around Phalaborwa, Hoedspruit, Hazyview, Sabie, White River, and Malelane.

This is an excellent area for the self-drive enthusiast, and, unless you want to do a longer trip, there is no need to drive from Johannesburg, and cars can be picked-up (and dropped-off) at Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport, at Hoedspruit, or Phalaborwa.

Explore the magnificent scenery around the Blyde River Canyon – itself the third largest in the world. There are waterfalls, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, the historical village of Pilgrim’s rest, walking trails, and an number of adventure pursuits – hot air ballooning, rafting, abseiling, to name but a few.
